The Border Cats erupted for eight runs over the final two innings as they crushed the Duluth Huskies 11-3 Monday night at Wade Stadium. The win ended a four game losing skid for the Cats and improved their record to 8-12. Thunder Bay was leading 3-2 before scoring five times in the top of the 8th inning and adding three more in the 9th. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) led the 13-hit attack by going 3-6 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Cory Kay (Harper College) went 3-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Newcomer Brad Burcroff (Northeastern University) had a 2-6 night at the plate with an RBI double and two runs batted in. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) and Dylan Goodwin (Central Michigan University) chipped in with two hits apiece.

Caleb Smith (Rice University) pitched six solid innings to earn his first win. The righthander allowed two runs on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Daniel Stoney (Madonna University) recorded his first save as he went the final three innings and struck out six. Stoney gave up just one hit and an unearned run.

The Cats return home to open a four-game homestand tonight with the first of two games against the Rochester Honkers. First pitch at Subway Field is set for 7:05pm. Chris Kerwood (Arkansas State University) is the scheduled starter in the opener for Thunder Bay. The righthander is 2-0 in three games with a 5.62 ERA.
