Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

In a game-three rubber match, Grand Junction defeated Ogden in walk-off fashion on Wednesday as the 2-1 final handed the Raptors their first series loss of the season at Suplizio Field.

Pitching and defense dominated the majority of the contest as both starters turned in a scoreless six innings with Anderson Amarista and Elio Serrano combining to allow just nine base runners while striking out nine.

Out of the bullpen, GJ's Juan Mejia and Ogden's Mark Mixon picked up where the starters left-off-matching each other for 1.2 innings of hitless, shutout work heading into the final innings.

In the top of the ninth, the Raptors finally put a run on the board with Jon Littell beating Anderson Bido in a battle of All-Stars with a sacrifice fly to score Sauryn Lao and put Ogden ahead 1-0.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jack Yalowitz got one for the Rockies as he tagged All-Star right-hander Corey Merrill with his first runs allowed of the year by plating Brenton Doyle with an RBI single to tie the game.

One batter later with two outs and Yalowitz on third, Reese Berberet popped up to shallow left and eventually reached with the winning run scoring as shortstop Zac Ching dropped the ball and the series.

With the victory, Grand Junction takes sole possession of first place in the Southern Division and gets set for a two-game home series with Orem at Suplizio Field tomorrow.
