IDAHO FALLS, ID - The Missoula Osprey (23-21) defeated Idaho Falls (22-21) on Wednesday night at Melaleuca Field, 7-2, claiming the three-game series from the Chukars. Hours after being named a Pioneer League All-Star, Osprey starter Patrick McGuff (W, 5-3) struck out nine batters in 8.0 IP.
LF Kevin Watson knocked his eighth homer of the season, ending his night 2-4, scoring twice.
Watson finished 5-13 with a triple and a homer in his three nights in Idaho Falls.
The Osprey offense scored their seven runs on ten hits, their third-straight night with 10+ hits. In three games vs Idaho Falls, the Osprey combined for 22 runs on 40 hits to end the month of July.
In the bottom of the 6th , Idaho Falls tied the ball game with an RBI single from Michael Emodi. In the 7th , however, Missoula answered the bell with three runs, two of which scored on back-to-back, two- out errors from Chukars' third baseman Kember Nacero.
Watson homered in the 8th , with one more insurance run coming in the 9th , to put the O's out of reach.
SS Jose Reyes shined in the bottom of the Osprey lineup, ending his night 2-4, knocking in two runs.
3B Carson Maxwell clubbed his first triple of the season, finishing 1-3 with a walk.
CF Dominic Canzone turned on his fourth double in three games in Idaho Falls, his 13th of the season. 2B Cam Coursey and C Axel Andueza both finished 1- 5 for the O's, with Coursey knocking an RBI double.
The Osprey will be home next on Thursday, August 1 for Stadium Happy Hour at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. Gates open at 6:00, with first pitch against the Great Falls Voyagers at 7:05 pm.
To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon landing, the O's wear themed jerseys for Space Weekend, in partnership with the American Cancer Society to knock cancer out of the ballpark.
