Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

Idaho Falls, ID - Locked in a pitchers duel throughout the night, the Chukars fell victim to a defensive lapse in the seventh inning, as Missoula broke a two run tie with a three run frame. The Osprey added on single runs in the eighth and ninth innings, besting the Chukars 7-2 and winning the series two games to one.

Missoula broke the scoreless tie with a two run third dinning. Carson Maxwell started the inning with a triple, and scored the very next hitter as Jose Reyes doubled to dead center. Cam Coursey stepped in next and doubled down the left field line, easily scoring Reyes.

Idaho Falls cut the lead in half in the fourth inning, but squandered a chance for more. Jose Marquez started the inning with a triple, and Clay Dungan brought him home with a ground out. However, the Chukars squandered an opportunity for more, as they left two on base.

In the sixth inning, the Chukars manufactured a run to tie the game. Marquez led off with a single, and Dungan took his place at first on a fielders choice. Dungan stole second, setting up Michael Emodi, who popped a single into center field, scoring Dungan to tie the game.

Stephen Ridings went the first six for the Chukars, striking out seven while not issuing a walk, and gave way to Brady Cox. The first three in the inning reached on two singles and a walk, and the go ahead run scored on a fielder choice. Cox got Coursey to pop out for the second out, but the catastrophe struck as Axel Andueza hit a ground ball to third that should have been the third out of the inning, but Kember Nacero booted it, allowing a second run in the inning to score. The very next hitter was Dom Canzone, who popped up to third, but Nacero dropped it, allowing a third run to score.

Patrick McGuff earned the win for Missoula, going a season high eight innings, allowing just two earned runs on five hits, walking just one and striking out nine. McGuff has punched out 27 over three starts against the Chukars.

As the calendar turns to August, the Chukars welcome in the Billings Mustangs for the first of three games tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM, and tickets are still available by visiting ifchukars.com.
