Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Moose Jaw, SK: Moose Jaw Warriors General Manager Chad Lang announced today that the Warriors have acquired right winger Brendan Rowinski along with a 2nd and 7th round draft pick in â09 from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for 19 year old forwards Joel Broda and Tomas Karpov.
Joel Broda is currently the WHL to goal scorer and has contributed tremendously to the Warriors offence since being acquired last season from the Tri-City Americans. "This has been an extremely tough decision with respect to Joel. Over his year and a half as a Warrior he has developed into an elite goal scorer which allowed him to be selected by the Washington Capitals in this past years NHL entry draft. He is a great player and an excellent kid, we would like to thank him for his commitment and contribution both on and off the ice," commented General Manager Chad Lang.
Tomas Karpov, the Czech Republic native, dressed in 108 games since being acquired by the Tribe and accounted for 35 points. "Karpov was our 1st round European selection in 2007 and was last years Rookie of the Year. He has been a great teammate and individual and we want to wish him continued success," stated General Manager Chad Lang.
The acquisition of Rowinski is consistent with the Warriors youth movement. Rowinski, a native of Winnipeg, MB, is having a personal best season and has notched 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points thus far. "In Rowinski we feel we are getting another skilled 18 year old forward. He is a versatile player in that he can play center or wing. Brendan has proven he has offensive ability being a point per game player this year. We welcome his experience and maturity to our lineup." says General Manager Chad Lang.
