The Frisco RoughRiders fell by a score of 14-3 to the San Antonio Missions Wednesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The Missions move two games ahead of the âRiders for first place in the Texas League South with the victory.
The Missions built an 8-0 lead after three innings off of Frisco starter Michael Schlact (3-1). Will Venable and Colt Morton each hit first inning home runs and Chad Huffman hit a two run single in the third to highlight the scoring for San Antonio.
Casey Benjamin's RBI single in the fifth put the âRiders on the scoreboard, but the Missions added four more runs in the sixth to push their lead to 12-1. Steve Murphy added a two run single in the sixth inning for the âRiders that made the score 12-3.
Wade Leblanc (5-3) earned the victory as he surrendered just one run in five innings of work.
Murphy had the only two hit game for the âRiders as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Venable led the Missions going 4-for-6 with three RBI. Matt Antonelli and Huffman both had three hit nights for San Antonio.
The RoughRiders and Missions will meet again Thursday night at 7 p.m. Scott Shoemaker (4-2, 4.48) takes the hill for Frisco while the Missions start Will Inman (3-1, 2.59).
