Mankato MoonDogs News Release

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Northwoods League announced Friday that Mankato MoonDogs outfielder Sean Ross (Indiana State) was named the league's Most Valuable Player.

For the MoonDogs, it marks their second season in a row housing the league's eventual MVP and the fifth time overall in the NWL's 29-season history.

Ross was a 2022 mid-season All-Star and also played in the 2022 Major League Dreams Showcase. For the season, he hit .376 with eight home runs, 14 doubles, three triples and 51 runs scored. Additionally, the San Diego native drove in 53 runs and stole 21 bases. As a result of his success throughout the second half of the season, Ross was also named a NWL Postseason All-Star.

With the home portion of their schedule now by the wayside following last night's walk-off win, the MoonDogs finished with a 25-11 record when competing at ISG Field in 2022. Now 39-27 overall, Mankato travels to La Crosse the next two nights to close out the season with a two-game series against the Loggers at Copeland Park. Both games start at 6:35 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
