Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
The Cedar Rapids Kernels announced today OF Anderson Rosario has joined the team from Salt Lake and that INF Travis Schlichting and OF Warner Madrigal will return to the Angels' Extended Spring Training facility in Tempe, AZ.
Rosario was signed by the Angels as a non-drafted free agent in July of 2003 and spent last season at Orem and Rancho Cucamonga. In 2006, he has played 18 games for the Bees, batting .118 in 17 at-bats. He is expected to arrive in Cedar Rapids this afternoon and will be in uniform and available for Monday's game with Fort Wayne.
Madrigal was placed on the DL today with an apparent broken bone in his right (throwing) hand. The injury was suffered when he was hit by a pitch on May 25th at Quad City.
Schlichting has been on the DL since May 27 after spraining the MCL in his right knee while sliding into a base against the Swing of the Quad Cities in Davenport.
Travis and Warner are returning to Tempe for further evaluation and assessment of their injuries and to return to playing fitness.
The move leave the Kernels roster at the MWL maximum of 25 players.
