
Dayton tops the Whitecaps in pitcher's duel

DAYTON, OH - The day after the Whitecaps clinched a playoff berth, their bats took a night off. West Michigan registered a season-low three hits in a 1-0 loss at Dayton.
Two walks and an RBI sacrifice fly by Mike DeJesus in the fifth inning proved to be the difference for the Dragons.
Carlos Fisher struck out ten batters in seven shutout innings to earn the win for Dayton. Luke French took the loss for the Whitecaps after allowing the game's only run on four hits in six innings of work.
In relief, Matt Rusch pitched two perfect innings for West Michigan.
The Dayton bullpen was perfect as well. Damian Ursin and Blake Hendley each pitched n inning for the Dragons. Hendley earned his team-leading 12th save.
The win marked just the second time in the last 12 meetings that the Dragons have beaten the Whitecaps.
End of the Road: The final game on the Whitecaps eight game road trip is Tuesday in Dayton. LHP Ramon Garcia (7-1, 1.70) will be on the mound for the Whitecaps against Dragons RHP Zach Ward (4-0, 3.07). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Whitecaps Pre Game Show begins at 6:50 p.m. on 1340 AM WBBL and at wbbl.com.
