
Roosters Beat Kings

On Sunday August 25, the Kalamazoo Kings hosted the Richmond Roosters in the finale of there three game series against the Richmond Roosters. Josh Beshears got the nod for the Kings this evening as he was looking to improve his record to 2-0. Matt Woychack was on the mound for the Roosters. The Roosters were able to get on the board first but the Kings quickly answered. This game had a total of six different lead changes. Through the first half of the game, all runs were scored with two outs in each inning. Beshears lasted five innings and then was replaced by relief pitcher Lee Naplin. Naplin allowed two runs on five hits and struck out two. The turning point in this game came in the top of the ninth with the game tied six all, when the Roosters Pete Pirman belted a one run double to get the win for the Roosters. The Kings were not able to answer back. Matt Schweitzer got the win for the Roosters as he improved his record to 3-1. Lee Naplin was given the loss as his record fell to 5-2.
The Kings will be on the road for the next series against the Chillicothe Paints. They will return home on Friday, August 29 as they host the Washington Wild Things.
