Rookie Leos Pull Down Player of the Week Honours

(Vancouver) After a 37-16 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, two BC Lions rookies have earned Gibson's Finest Player of the Week honours.

Andrew Harris was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week after he electrified fans with a 72-yard kickoff return to start the second half last week and helped set the tone for a Lions win. The first-year speedster who played his junior football for the Vancouver Island Raiders had his best day as a pro with three kickoff returns for 119 yards and four punt returns for 43 yards on the day.

Jerome Messam took full advantage of his increased playing time with the offence notching his first two pro touchdowns on the ground and claiming Canadian Player of the Week kudos. The Toronto native had 24 rushing yards along with another 34 yards through the air in addition to the two majors.
