Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week Announced

Toronto, ON - (September 14, 2010) - Henry Burris, Ronald Flemons, Andrew Harris and Jerome Messam were named the Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week for week 11, the Canadian Football League announced today.

The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Gibson's Finest CFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

QB - Henry Burris - Calgary Stampeders

Highlights / Key Stats:

Henry Burris was integral to the Stamps' success on offence, lending a hand in all of Calgary's four touchdowns en route to completing a series sweep of rival Edmonton in 2010. The Stamps quarterback completed 29 of 35 passes for 404 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in his team's 36-20 win at Commonwealth Stadium.

Burris was also a threat on the ground, running the ball three times for 28 yards and two touchdowns, improving Calgary's league best record to 9-1.

This marks the 12th time in Burris' career that he has been named Offensive Player of the Week. The 12-year CFL veteran currently leads the league in pass completions (227) and passing touchdowns (23).

DE - Ronald Flemons - Toronto Argonauts

Highlights / Key Stats:

Ronald Flemons was solid on defence for the Argos in a tough loss to the B.C. Lions 37-16. The fifth-year Argos' veteran racked up seven tackles, including a career-high three sacks for a team loss of 27 yards, one pass knockdown and one fumble recovery for 39 yards in the losing effort.

KR - Andrew Harris - B.C. Lions

Toronto Argonauts 16 @ B.C. Lions 37

Highlights / Key Stats:

B.C. kick returner Andrew Harris had a breakthrough performance against the Argonauts, earning himself Gibson's Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week. Harris opened the second-half with a highlight-worthy 72-yard kickoff return to give the Lions great field position deep in Toronto territory. B.C. capitalized on the return by scoring a touchdown two plays later and never looked back, defeating the Argos 37-16 for their first win at Empire Field this season.

The Winnipeg native accounted for 162 total return yards, including three kickoffs for 119 yards and four punts for 43 yards.

Gibson's Finest CFL CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RB - Jerome Messam - B.C. Lions

Highlights / Key Stats:

Rookie running back Jerome Messam provided a much needed spark for the Lions, helping protect home field in a 37-16 victory over the Argonauts at Empire Field. The Toronto native was a key contributor in defeating his hometown team. He ran for a gritty 24 yards on eight carries and scored the first two TDs of his young career.

Messam also recorded two receptions, the first catches of his career, for a total of 34 yards.
