Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that quarterback Henry Burris has been named the Canadian Football League's offensive player of the week for Week 11.

Burris completed 82.9 per cent (29 of 35) of his passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns in a winning effort over Edmonton last week. He added two rushing majors on three carries for 28 yards. Burris led an offence that compiled 587 yards of net offence in a 36-20 victory last week as the Stamps extended their winning streak to seven games. The Stampeders' all-time leading passer has thrown 23 touchdowns this season to lead all Canadian Football League pivots.

Calgary boasts the league's best record at 9-1, leads the CFL with 35.9 points scored per game and is tops with an average of 445.4 yards of offence per contest.

This marks the sixth time a Stampeders' player has been recognized in the CFL's weekly awards. Previous Calgary winners are Jon Cornish, who was named top Canadian in Week 4 and Week 9, Romby Bryant, who was top offensive player in Week 4, Ken-Yon Rambo, who received the offensive-player-of the-week nod in Week 9, and Brandon Smith, who earned defensive player honours for Week 10.

The next home game for the Stamps is on Saturday, Sept. 25 against the BC Lions. It's the annual PinkPower game in support of the Canadian Cancer Society and kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available by contacting the Stampeders' Ticket Office (403-289-0258 or toll free at 1-800-667-3267), Ticketmaster (403-777-0000 or online at Ticketmaster.ca) or by visiting any local Safeway or Sport Chek location.
