B.C. Lions News Release

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that wide receiver Larry Beavers has signed with the club and has been placed on the practice roster.

Beavers most recently attended training camp with the New Orleans Saints and enjoyed a strong showing for the Super Bowl champs taking a kickoff 97 yards for a TD in 2010 pre-season play versus New England. He first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signing of the Carolina Panthers in May 2009 before being waived at the conclusion of the preseason.

The speedy and athletic native of Maryland set a number of records while attending Wesley University (NCAA Division III) including 10 touchdowns on kick returns. A true speed-merchant, Beavers averaged 29.2 yards per punt return as a senior in 2008 which led the conference and helped earn him a Division III All-American selection. Over a four-year collegiate career ('05-'08), Beavers caught 123 passes for 2,366 yards and 28 TDs averaging 19.2 yards per catch. He left school as the all-time leading kick returner with 2,070 yards and career TDs (10) which was also an NCAA record for all divisions to go along with 5,373 all-purpose yards.
