
Rome Falls to West Virginia, 4-3

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the West Virginia Power Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium 4-3 before 2,555 fans.
Rome made it 1-0 in the first inning when Joseph Daris tripled to lead off the game and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Omar Obregon. Two runs in the fourth inning put West Virginia ahead thanks to an RBI ground out by Michael Suchy and a single by Jerrick Juiter to score the second run. The Braves came back in the bottom of the frame to tie the contest on Jordan Edgerton's solo home run but the Power took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly RBI by Pablo Reyes. West Virginia added another run in the sixth for the 4-2 score but Tanner Krietemeier's solo shot in the seventh closing the gap to a 4-3 game. West Virginia's bullpen was able to shutdown Rome for the final two innings to hold on for the 4-3 win.
Austin Coley (7-4) gets to the win for West Virginia and Oriel Caicedo (0-3) is hit with the loss. Nick Neumann earns his ninth save of the season.
