August 7, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New York Boulders News Release
(Ramapo, NY) - The Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League have exceeded 250,000 fans in total attendance in their second season of existence. Including Sunday's game against the Kansas City T-Bones at Provident Bank Park, the Boulders have now drawn 250,769 over their first two seasons. In addition, their current 2012 mark of 127,065 has already surpassed last season's total with nine home games still remaining on the schedule.
In their first season, Rockland registered an attendance of 123,704, good enough for second in the Can-Am behind only league champion Quebec. The Boulders currently lead Quebec in that category as the season enters its final weeks, and already stand with the 11th-best seasonal mark since the league was reformed in 2005.
With a full year of participation under its belt, the Boulders organization has focused its efforts on expanding its commitment to the community and extending their fan base, with the reward being attendance figures that have run at approximately 20% over last year's total for much of the season. "Boulders fans have rolled out to Provident Bank Park in record numbers during our second season," stated Boulders Team President Ken Lehner, "and we are grateful for their continuing support."
Rockland has three scheduled series remaining; this Thursday through Sunday, August 9-11, they will host the New Jersey Jackals. After finishing the series in New Jersey on Sunday, they will embark on an American Association road trip that will see them play nine games in 11 days before returning to Provident Bank Park to host the Jackals again on August 24, 25 and 26. They will conclude the regular season with a Labor Day weekend set against the American Association's Lincoln Salt Dogs on September 1-3.
