Can-Am League Game Recaps

August 7, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Newark 5, Kansas City 3

Bears LF James Roche went 3-for-4 and hit his fourth home run of the season, leading Newark to a 5-3 win over Kansas City. Roche's blast came in the eighth inning, the final of five one-run frames for the Bears. All three of the T-Bones runs came via the longball. The first home run, a two-run shot from DH Ray Sadler, came in the top of the fourth and briefly tied the score. It was Sadler's only hit of the night in four at-bats. Bears starting pitcher Mike Ness struck out 10 batters in eight innings of work while allowing two runs on six hits. Ness is now 8-2 with a 3.24 ERA.

New Jersey 2, Worcester 0

Starting Jackals pitcher Isaac Pavlik threw eight shutout innings, striking out 11 Worcester batters and powering New Jersey past the Tornadoes, 2-0. Pavlik - who allowed only three hits in his eight frames of work - has 90 strikeouts on the year compared to just 18 walks. The Jackals got on the board early when 2B Matt Cusick doubled in leadoff CF Bryan Sabatella in the first inning. Cusick went 2-for-3 as one of two Jackals with multiple hits. For the Tornadoes, only SS Ryan Brockett had more than one hit, going 2-for-4 on the night.

Rockland 1, Quebec 0 (Suspended - Bottom 2)

The game between Rockland and Quebec was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the second inning. Rockland led Quebec, 1-0.
