New York Boulders News Release

(Quebec City, Quebec, August 7) - Tonight's game between the Rockland Boulders and the Quebec Capitales at Le Stade Municipal was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the second inning with the Boulders holding a 1-0 lead. It will be concluded tomorrow starting at 5:05 pm before the regularly scheduled regular-season finale between the two teams. The completion of the suspended contest will be played to the full nine innings, while the second game is now scheduled for seven innings.

Coming off last night's 7-4 victory, the visiting Boulders broke on top in the first inning off Quebec starter Chad Jones when Ryan Mollica's line single up the middle brought in Brandon Pinckney. Rockland starter Jon Velasquez had held the Capitales to two out with a runner on second base in the last of the second inning when the rain started. The right-hander struggled thereafter, walking the next two batters to load the bases before the tarp was called for. After a delay of over an hour, the contest was officially suspended at that point and will be resumed Wednesday.

After the conclusion of tomorrow's games, the Boulders will bus home to host the New Jersey Jackals for a three-game home series that begins Thursday night and runs through Saturday, and concludes with a single game at New Jersey on Sunday. Rockland entered tonight's play four games behind the Jackals for the final slot in the Can-Am League playoffs, with the teams having seven head-to-head games left, six at Provident Bank Park.
