Rockies Win Game 1, Second Game Suspended

After only playing six inning in two days at Idaho Falls, the Grand Junction Rockies were scheduled to play a doubleheader Thursday night against the Idaho Falls Chukars. They won game the first game 18-8, but the rain started up again the in the third inning of game two forcing the players off the field with the Chukars leading 7-0.

Idaho Falls scored all seven of their runs in the bottom of the first, and the game will be picked up in the bottom of the third inning, with the two teams playing a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 5:00.

Grand Junction's 18 runs in game eclipsed a season high. They rallied with two out in the first inning to score four runs to jump in front, and they blew the game open with a six run fourth inning, headlined by a Kevin Padlo grand slam.

Padlo had three hits and the four RBI from the grand slam. Yonathan Daza also had a four RBI game, and had four hits in five at bats. Wes Rogers, Hamlet Marte, and Terry McClure added a pair of hits.

The Rockies had 16 hits and worked 8 walks, while only striking out three times.
