BILLINGS, Mont. - In the second game of two seven-inning matchups, Gabriel Moya went 6.2 innings without allowing a hit before Garrett Boulware of Billings delivered a single to centerfield to end Moya's chase at his first no-hitter.
Moya (4-4) was masterful with ten strikeouts and just three walks in 6.2 innings. After the hit, Anthony Bazzani relieved him, and the Osprey battled the rain to hang on for a 3-1 win. Bazzani picked up his second save of the year with one hit and the lone run was charged to Moya.
Missoula (12-13, 29-34) broke open the scoreless tie with a Yosbel Gutierrez bases-loaded single in the fourth inning. Taylor Ard gave Missoula a key double in the following inning to plate home two runs with a line drive down the third base line. It was the second double of the inning following Trevor Mitsui's sixteenth of the year. In total, the O's had seven hits in the win.
In game one of the doubleheader, Tyler Mahle (4-4) shutdown the Osprey as Billings won 5-0. Mahle pitched the entire seven innings and gave up just two hits, singles to Trevor Mitsui and Dane McFarland, and struck out seven batters.
Billings (15-10, 32-31) had ten hits in the win and was led by Ty Washington's 3-4 performance.
Touki Toussaint (1-2) took the loss with three earned runs in 1.2 innings before Kevin Simmons pitched the final 4.1 with two earned off five hits.
Missoula is on the road again tomorrow with a 7:05 p.m. tilt against Billings to end a four-game series. The Osprey sit three games behind Billings in the North Division's Second Half standings.
