
Rockies Overwhelmed by Raptors Bats

With the help of 15 hits and six walks, the Ogden Raptors beat the Grand Junction Rockies Sunday afternoon at Lindquist Field 12-2.
The Raptors worked five walks off Rockies starter Chad Zurat, who surrendered three runs over four innings, dropping to 1-1 on the season.
Michael Medina doubled home a pair in the first inning to give the Raptors a 2-0 lead, but Jonathan Piron led off the second inning with a double and scored on Elvin Paulino's sacrifice fly to the Ogden lead in half.
Ogden got that run back in the bottom of the inning, and the game remained 3-1 until the Raptors scored two in the fifth. Piron scored after tripling in the sixth, but the Raptors scored two more in the bottom of the inning to make it a 7-2 game, and they put the Rockies away with a 5-run eighth inning.
Piron had two of the Rockies six hits and he scored both runs. He has seven hits in the series. Daniel Suero singled to extend his hit streak to 9-games and he stole two bases.
Deion Ulmer had four hits for the Raptors while Willie Calhound drove home five runs.
The loss drops the Rockies to 10-8 on the season, they are 2-4 on their current 7-game road trip through Utah.
