
Rockies Lose Twice, Fall out of First

Clinging to a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded and two out, Karch Kowalcyzk struck out Wes Rogers to the preserve the Ogden Raptors 5-4 win over the Grand Junction Rockies.
The loss comes after the Raptors won the continuation of Tuesday's suspended game 4-3, so with just eight games to play, Ogden has a half game lead over the Rockies for first place in the South Division.
Grand Junction has now lost 5-of-6, with all five losses coming by a single run.
Ogden rallied with two out in the ninth inning for a pair of runs. Collin Herring, doubled to right field, and Jimmy Allen broke a 3-3 tie with a triple. Billy Bereszniewcz singled home Allen to make it a 2-run game.
Roberto Ramos singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, scoring Randy Reyes, but Nate Causey could not score, and before the Rogers strikeout, Luis Jean grounded into a fielder's choice.
Grand Junction got the scoring started when Dom Nunez extended his hit streak to 15 games with an RBI single in the first inning, but Ogden grabbed the lead in the secohnd with solo homers from Ivan Vela and Herring.
Ramos tied the game when he singled home Forrest Wall in the second, and the team's traded runs in the sixth before the game was decided in the ninth.
Carlos Polanco did not factor in the decision for the Rockies. He allowed three runs over five 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts. In his third Pioneer League start, Grant Holmes struck out a career-high nine in five innings of work.
The Rockies and Raptors will meet for the Final time at Suplizio Field on Thursday night. First pitch is set for 7:05.
