February 8, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Motor City Mechanics News Release

FRASER, MI-The Rockford IceHogs score a late goal and take the game 1-0 as Ronnie Vogel shuts the door in front of 1,656 fans tonight at the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena.

It was a scoreless game until 5:59 of the third when Rockford's Olivier Proulx deflected a Corey Hessler shot to give the IceHogs a 1-0 lead. That goal in turn would be the game-winning goal.

The story of this game however were both goaltenders as both stood on their heads and made some huge saves throughout the game. Rod Branch made 25 saves in his 44th appearance of the season and looked fantastic throughout the game with just the one shot beating him. Ronnie Vogel made 33 saves and was fantastic as well as the Mechanics threw everything they had at him, however, no goals could find the back of the net as he netted the shutout.

The Mechanics return to action on Friday when the Muskegon Fury come to town for an All-star poster giveaway presented by Pepsi, face-off: 7:30 pm. Saturday the Flint Generals return to the barn for the second annual Pink at The Rink. The Mechanics will be wearing Pink jerseys to be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation.
