Danbury Trashers News Release

ELMIRA, NY--Shawn Collymore netted the first hat trick for Danbury this season as the Trashers rebounded from a 2nd period 2-1 deficit to top Elmira 5-2 on Wednesday night at First Arena.

Danbury skated out strong in the opening period, but Nick Boucher was equal to the task for Elmira. The reigning UHL goaltender of the week stopped 11 of 12 shots in the first, but Jeff Daw's 11th of the season at the 8:53 mark opened the scoring. Elmira tied the score though as Jason Sessa wristed a shot past a screened off Sly Daigle at 17:41.

Kevin Cooper's unassisted goal at the 6:48 mark gave Elmira a brief 2-1 lead before the Trashers erupted for three goals to close off the second period. Collymore's first of the night came at 11:53 after moving his shot past Boucher off a pass from Mike Omicioli. Jamie Thompson scored on a breakaway at 15:30 to give Danbury a 3-2 lead, while Collymore's second was at the 16:46 mark.

Collymore netted the hat trick goal after he was set up by Sergei Durdin at the 15:48 mark of the final period. Daigle stopped 28 of 30 shots while Boucher saved 25 of 30 in a losing cause. The Trashers now lead Adirondack by nine points in the UHL East.

The Trashers return home on Friday night February 10th against Adirondack at 7:30pm and again on Saturday night against Richmond, also at 7:30pm.
