Rockford splits week 19, set for long road swing

The longest stretch of games of the season for the Rockford IceHogs came to an end on Sunday, and the club posted a record of 8-3-1 in its 12 games in 19 days. Week 19 was highlighted by a 3-1 win in front of a season-high crowd of 6,798 at the Rockford MetroCentre Saturday. The IceHogs, this week, continue their season long seven-game road swing.

Transactions

-Winger Rob Voltera was placed on the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Saturday, Feb. 25.

-Winger Bruce Watson was placed on Team Suspension on Saturday, Feb. 25.

-Center Paul Brown was assigned to Rockford from the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, Feb. 25.

-Winger Greg Barber was activated from Team Suspension on Saturday, Feb. 25/

-Center Preston Mizzi was re-assigned to the IceHogs from San Antonio on Thursday, Feb. 23.

-Defenseman Joe Markusen was activated from the 14-Day Injured Reserve on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

-Defenseman Bob Nardella was moved from Team Suspension to the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

-Winger Greg Barber was placed on Team Suspension on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

-Center Preston Mizzi was loaned to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Winger Greg Barber has a team season-high nine-game point streak. During his streak, Barber has 3g-7a-10pts.

On Saturday, Rockford drew a season-high crowd of 6,798. The attendance ranks fourth all-time in Hogs history.

Rockford had their club-record 10-game road unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday at Muskegon.

Goaltender Michel Robinson had his club-record 15-game unbeaten streak and 10-game winning streak come to an end when he was saddled with the loss on Thursday against Port Huron.

Rockford began a season-long seven-game, 20-day road swing on Sunday in Muskegon. The next home game for the IceHogs is Friday, March 17. Â-

Center Preston Mizzi has 10 power-play goals on the season, one shy of the club record set by Dave Paradise in 2003-04.

Rockford's 82 standings points are already good enough for second most in club history. The team set the high water mark last season with 101.

IceHogs shot output on Sunday of 16 tied a club-record for fewest shots in a game, accomplished three other times (last: 11/14/04 vs. Missouri).

Center Olivier Proulx is one point shy of tying former Hogs center Steve Cygan for third on the Hogs all-time scoring list. Proulx has 114 career IceHogs points.

Proulx also surpassed Jason Firth over the weekend to move into third all-time with 74 assists.

Hot Hog Week 19:

Center Olivier Proulx for the second straight week is the IceHogs nomination for Player of the Week. Proulx accumulated 1g-3a-4pts in Rockford's four-game week and has climbed up to fourth on the IceHogs all-time point scoring chart.

Upcoming Games:

Friday, March 3 at Motor City Mechanics The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Rockford returns to the garage in Fraser, Mich. to take on the Mechanics. The IceHogs continue their season-long seven-game road swing with the final match-up of the regular season between the Hogs and Mechanics.

Saturday, March 4 at Flint Generals. The puck drops at 6:35 p.m. Rockford returns to Flint for one final visit this season with the Generals. The game is the third of seven on Rockford's long road swing.
