Danbury's Omicioli and Muskegon's Pool earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Danbury Trashers center Drew Omicioli has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Muskegon Fury goaltender Clayton Pool has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 26, 2006.

Omicioli completed the week with six points (3g, 3a) and a plus-3 rating in two games played. He netted two goals and added an assist in Friday's 6-3 victory vs. Richmond. His second goal proved to be the game-winner. He tallied three points (1g, 2a) in Saturday's 5-2 win vs. Adirondack. It was his third consecutive multi-point game. The 26-year-old native of West Warwick, Rhode Island leads his team with 31 goals this season. That number alson ranks tied for fifth in the UHL. Omicioli has 56 points (31g, 25a) and a plus-18 rating in 47 games for Danbury.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack Frostbite center Sylvain Cloutier, Elmira right wing Jason Sessa, Flint center Terry Marchant, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Kalamazoo defenseman Daniel Carriere, Missouri left wing Jim Duhart, Motor City forward Peter Szabo, Muskegon center Billy Collins, Quad City right wing Chad Woollard, Richmond forward Rod Taylor, Roanoke right wing Matt Elich, and Rockford center Olivier Proulx.

Pool finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.50 goals against average (GAA), and a .949 save percentage (SPCT). He made 41 saves in the 3-2 victory vs. Motor City on Friday. He then stopped 15 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win vs. league-leading Rockford. The 27-year-old native of Abbotsford, British Columbia has a 22-6-3 record this season. The 22 wins are tied for fourth among UHL goaltenders. It is the second weekly goaltender honor for Pool this season.
