Rockford returns home after four-game road swing

Week 5 of the 2006-07 United Hockey League season wasn't very hot for the Rockford IceHogs as they dropped a pair of games against Eastern Conferece opponents. The Hogs will return home this week for three games including the first ever visit from the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Friday.

Friday, Nov. 10: Rockford IceHogs 3 at Port Huron Flags 6

Saturday, Nov. 11: Rockford IceHogs 2 at Muskegon Fury 5: The Rockford IceHogs got its first test of the 2006-07 season against the Muskegon Fury on Saturday and dropped a 5-2 contest at the L.C. Walker Arena. After closing a two-goal deficit to one, Muskegon responded with a pair of goals to pull away with the win. Trailing 3-1 in the third period, Rockford winger Nicolas Corbeil deflected a Nathan Lutz blast past Muskegon goalie Clayton Pool at 9:33 to close the gap to 3-2. The Fury, however, responded just over a minute later when Scott Barnes fired a shot past Frederic Cloutier to extend the lead back to two goals. An empty netter from Adam Smyth sealed the win for Muskegon at 19:05. The IceHogs were first on the board when winger Kaleb Betts deeked out Pool on a breakaway at 18:57 of the first period. Muskegon would tie the contest 7:18 into the second frame when winger Rustyn Dolyny flipped a power-play goal past Cloutier. Later, defenseman Josh Chase deflected in his second marker of the campaign at 17:15. Justin Coutu extended the Fury lead to 3-1 in the third period, sliding a rebound past Cloutier at 1:29. For only the second time this season the IceHogs were outshot in a contest as the Fury outshot Rockford 29-23. Special teams were a minor factor in the game as the Hogs went 1-for-9 and Muskegon finished 1-for-8 on the power play.

The line combination of Nicolas Corbeil, Kevin Ulanski and Kaleb Betts combined for all five IceHogs goals over the weekend. ï‚-

Corbeil had five total points over the weekend, including three assists on Friday in Port Huron. ï‚-

Ulanski has at least one point in seven of the IceHogs first 10 games.

Betts has six goals in his last six games. ï‚-

After completing a four-game road swing, the IceHogs will play five of its next six games at the Rockford MetroCentre. ï‚-

This week also marks the first week this season in which the IceHogs will play more than two games. ï‚-

The IceHogs have outshot its opponents in eight of 10 games this season. ï‚-

Muskegon committed 77 PIM's against Rockford on Saturday, a season high for PIM's by an IceHogs opponent.

Hot Hog Week 5:

Winger Nicolas Corbeil had a hand in all five of the IceHogs goals over the weekend. Corbeil totaled 1g-4a-5pts during Week 5 of the United Hockey League season to lead Rockford.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, Nov. 15 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. Rockford returns home at 7:30 p.m. The Hogs take on Western Confernce rival Fort Wayne at the Rockford MetroCentre for the second time this season. Wednesday is also the World Premiere of Dollar Days with the IceHogs and WXRX-FM 104.9. Fans can purchase regular size hot dogs, soft drinks, select candy items and peanuts for just $1.

Friday, Nov. 17 vs. Bloomington PrairieThunder. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. For the first time ever, the IceHogs host the PrairieThunder. The first 1,000 fans to the MetroCentre will receive IceHogs Poster #2 courtesy of Pepsi, Medicine Man, Johnson Press, Rockford Register Star and Q98.5 FM.

Saturday, Nov. 18 vs. Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs and Wings meet for the first time this season. The first 1,000 kids 12-and-under to the building will receive a Youth Hockey Stick courtesy of McDonald's and WXRX-FM"ˆ104.9.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Once again this season, ESPN"ˆRadio "The Jock" 1380 AM will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings for game times and dates.
