Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- The UHL's all-time top winning team, league-leading Muskegon Fury, in conjunction with the United Hockey League, have announced on this date a clean sweep of the league's weekly awards for the first time in the 2006-07 season.
Deriving rich benefits from their torrid 13(12-1-0) first place record, the Fury rookie center ELIAS GODOY has been named SHER-WOOD / UHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK while CLAYTON POOL has been anointed SOUTH-ERN SPORTS SUPPLY / UHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK with both honors attained for the week of November 6th through November 12th.
GODOY, 25, has been magical since the very inception of the season after Muskegon inked him to his first-ever pro contract following an AHL training camp stint with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The past week, the slick 5-11, 185lb centerman was point-polished proficient as he helped spark his Fury club to a perfect 3(3-0-0) mark on the impetus of a grand sweep of 3-games in 3-days. Launching his lustrous weekend Friday night when the Fury doused division rivals Flint, 5-0, Godoy claimed the game's #2 Star with 3-points, including a pair of goals. The subsequent night, on Saturday night, he was even better, being acclaimed the #1 Star as he crafted 3-adept and adroit assists and stellar +3 rating in his team's 5-2 dismissal of always rugged, redoubtable Rockford. The U. Mass-Lowell product culminated his prosperous weekend of productive work with 1-goal and 1-assist in the Fury's thrilling come back 5-3 victory over the Flags.
For the week, Godoy composed three consecutive multiple point games, accruing 8-points in all on 3-goals, 5-assists, 9-SOG and a superb +5 rating. For the season, the West Vancouver, B. C. native ranks a lofty second in the UHL overall scoring race, averaging virtually 2-points a game on 9-goals, 16-assists, 25-points through 13-games. Presently enjoying a healthy 7-game points streak with 16-points in that span, Godoy is the UHL's top scoring rookie while ranking third overall in the league with those 9-goals and 16-assists.
This is the precocious Godoy's second UHL weekly award. He captured the UHL's inaugural week award for the same Sher-wood UHL Player of the Week honors back on October 16th. In addition, he was acclaimed the initial winner this season of the Easton / UHL Rookie of the Month Award for October 2006.
As for Pool, the 28-year-old third year pro from Abbotsford, B. C. is off to his best start in the professional ranks. The past weekend, he backstopped the Fury to a pair of key, clutch victories. In the process, he grudgingly surrendered a minuscule 2-GA. The former U. of Alberta standout was hailed the #1 Star Friday night in his dynamic 26-saves 5-0 shutout verdict of Flint before vexing and frustrating Rockford Saturday night in the Muskegon's 5-2 triumph. Pool was heralded the #2 Star in the latter contest. In his last 3-starts, the Fury's #40 has been nearly impervious as he has allotted a meager 4-GA for a GAA of a scintillating 1.33.
For the season, the Fury's premiere professor of puck prevention attention is rated as the UHL's #1 goaltender. He is the league's lone and last undefeated netminder, posting the league's best record along with the most wins at 8(8-0-0).His GAA of a stingy 2.00 and SPCT of .934 also represent the top rankings in the loop. Moreover, Pool has been perfect personified abroad at 5(5-0-0) and 2.20 GAA. He has compiled the Fury's all-time top winning percentage at an amazing .747 through his Fury career ledger that reads 55-16-8 and .747.
