Mallards Host Chicago and Visit Muskegon This Week

Moline, IL-The Mallards play a pair of games in the coming weekend. On Friday, the team hosts the Chicago Hounds for the first time ever. The team makes a trip to Muskegon on Saturday for the second meeting of the year with the Fury.

Last week, the Mallards went 1-2-0 with losses to Chicago and Kalamazoo sandwiched around a win over Port Huron. The Mallards began the week with a 6-2 loss to the Hounds in the team's first trip to Chicago. On Saturday night, Quad City beat Port Huron 4-3 thanks to a goal by Chad Woollard with just 2:32 left in the game. The team wrapped up the week with a 4-1 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings.

Saturday, November 25th vs. Muskegon

Mini-Goalie Mask Giveaway courtesy of Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center

The first 1,000 fans in attendance on Saturday, November 25th will receive a mini-porcelain replica of Mallards goaltender Jason Tapp's mask. This special giveaway is presented by the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

Saturday, December 2nd vs. Bloomington

On Saturday, December 2nd, the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive bobbleheads of Mallards Head Coach Brian Curran courtesy of Dick-n-Sons Lumber of Blue Grass, Iowa.

The Hounds visit The MARK for the first time on Friday. Chicago beat the Mallards 6-2 in the teams' only previous meeting. Chad Woollard and Don Parsons scored the Quad City goals in the loss.

Saturday, November 18th at Muskegon 6:30 p.m. central time at the L.C. Walker Arena

The Mallards return to Muskegon looking to avenge a 9-2 loss to the Fury on October 14th. The Fury offense leads the UHL in goals per game (5.38) and features the top five scoring in the league.

Friday, November 10th - Quad City 2 at Chicago 6

The Mallards dropped a 6-2 decision to the Chicago Hounds on Friday night at The Sears Centre. Chad Woollard and Don Parsons netted the Mallards goals in the loss. Woollard gave the Mallards a 1-0 edge at 13:11 of the first period on a power-play goal. The Hounds answered with a pair of even strength goals just 1:29 apart. Kris Vernarsky netted the first Hounds marker followed by a Chris Busby goal at 16:56 of the opening period. The Hounds held the 2-1 lead into the first intermission. In the second, the Hounds extended their lead on goals by Maris Ziedins and Mike Brolsma. The pair of even strength goals gave the Hounds a 4-1 edge after two periods. In the third, the Hounds opened up a 5-1 lead on a goal by Todd Grant at 2:42 of the period. Don Parsons swatted home his fourth Mallard goal just 1:04 later to pull the Mallards within three at 5-2. Less than two minutes after Parsons' marker, Chicago's Bob Rapoza scored the game's final goal to set the final at 6-2.

Saturday, November 11th - Port Huron 3 at Quad City 4

A two-goal third period comeback earned the Mallards their first home-ice win of 2006-07. Andrei Lupandin scored twice in the 4-3 win, and Chad Woollard buried the game-winning goal with just 2:32 left in the contest. The Mallards jumped to a 1-0 lead at 10:14 of the first period when Don Parsons scored his fifth goal of the year. It stood up as the only goal of the opening period, and the Mallards carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. In the second, Port Huron seized control of the game on goals by Garett Cameron and Pat Sutton. The pair of Port Huron tallies were separated by just 45 seconds and gave the Flags a 2-1 lead. Lupandin scored his first goal of the night on a Mallards power-play at 16:21 of the middle period. The power-play marker tied the game at two. Ryan Markham reclaimed the lead for the Flags when he scored a shorthanded goal just 35 seconds after Lupandin's first marker. The Flags carried the 3-2 lead into the second intermission. The Mallards dominated the closing period, outshooting Port Huron 16-7. Lupandin scored his second power-play goal at 4:16 of the final frame to tie the game at three. Woollard netted a dramatic game-winning goal with just 2:32 remaining to earn the first home ice win of the season for the Mallards.

Sunday, November 12th - Kalamazoo 4 at Quad City 1

The Mallards suffered a 4-1 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings on Sunday at The MARK. The Wings converted twice on the power-play and relied on netminder Ryan Nie, who made 40 stops in earning his second pro win. In the first, the Wings claimed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Brett Pilkington. Kalamazoo stretched the lead to 3-0 on second period power-play goals by Nick Bootland and Pilkington. In the third, the Wings moved out to a 4-0 advantage on a goal by former NHL defenseman Chris McAllister. Luke Stauffacher netted the lone Mallards goal with 3:33 left in the game. Jesse Rycroft and Sean Starke earned assists on Stauffacher's first goal as a Mallard.

Player of the Week

Chad Woollard is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He scored his fourth goal of the year on Friday and added his fifth goal with an assist on Saturday.

Goalie of the Week

Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He made 30 saves on Friday, 22 saves in a win on Saturday and 25 saves on Sunday.
