UHL names players of the week

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Muskegon Fury center Elias Godoy has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Muskegon Fury goaltender Clayton Pool has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 12th, 2006.

Godoy completed the week with eight points (3g, 5a) and a plus-5 rating in three games played. He registered three points (2g, 1a) in Friday's 5-0 win vs. Flint. The following evening he dished out three assists in the 5-2 victory over Rockford. On Sunday, he recorded his fifth consecutive multi-point game with two points (1g, 1a) in the 5-3 win vs. Port Huron. The 25-year-old native of West Vancouver, British Columbia currently ranks second in UHL scoring with 25 points (9g, 16a) which also ranks first among UHL rookies. Godoy earned player of the week honors after the first week of the season and was named UHL Rookie of the Month for October.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Alex Goupil, Chicago defenseman Bob Rapoza, Elmira center Tommy Kotsopoulos, Flint right wing Jason Selleke, Fort Wayne left wing Daniel Goneau, Kalamazoo left wing Nick Bootland, Port Huron center Ryan Markham, Quad City right wing Chad Woollard, and Rockford right wing Nicolas Corbeil.

Pool finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), a .959 save percentage (SPCT), and one shutout. He stopped all 26 shots in Friday's 5-0 win vs. Flint to record his first shutout of the season. He then made 21 saves in the 5-2 victory vs. Rockford on Saturday. The 28-year-old native of Abbotsford, British Columbia has yet to lose a game this season (8-0-0) and currently leads all UHL goaltenders in wins (8), GAA (2.00), and SPCT (.934). He ranks fifth in saves (226) and minutes played (480).

Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Steffan Braunlich, Chicago's Marty Magers, Elmira's Kris Tebbs, Flint's Jason Muzzatti, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Tom Askey, Port Huron's Dustin Traylen, Quad City's Jason Tapp, and Rockford's Frederic Cloutier.
