Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder acquired the rights to left wing Brad Bonello to complete a six-player trade with the Port Huron Flags, the team announced Monday.

Bonello is part of a trade the teams made last week that brought Ryan Gillis and Jeff Cameron to the PrairieThunder in exchange for Garett Cameron, Sam Webber and Chris Bogas.

The 5-foot-9, 162-pound Bonello scored two goals and had three assists at Port Huron this season. He began last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League where he played eight games before moving to the Toledo Storm in the East Coast Hockey League.

Bonello scored 11 goals and had 19 assists in 32 games before finishing the season with the Greenville Grrowl in the ECHL. In nine games with the Grrowl he had nine goals and 10 assists.

"Brad will bring some grit and speed to the team," said PrairieThunder coach Derek Booth. "He's got a little bit of everything. He put up some big numbers in the Ontario Hockey League, which is a great hockey league. I expect him to come in and put up some good numbers."

Bonello captured a championship at the junior level with the Erie Otters in 2001-02 and was a member of the Ottawa 67's team that advanced to the championship game at the junior level in 2004-05.

The Brampton, Ontario native will make his debut Friday when the PrairieThunder plays at Rockford in a 7:30 p.m. United Hockey League contest, the first of a three-game road swing.

The PrairieThunder, which has a 4-7 record, plays at Port Huron on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and at Kalamazoo at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Bloomington's next home game is Saturday, Nov. 25, at 7:05 p.m. against Port Huron. Tickets are available at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office by calling 309-434-2679. They are priced at $10, $12, $15 and $20.
