Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs tied a club-record Saturday night, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 4-2 win over the Missouri River Otters in front of 4,465 at the MetroCentre. Rockford, 7-0-3 dating back to December 16, wrapped up their season long six-game homestand 5-0-1.

It was the IceHogs who grabbed the 1-0 lead in the opening frame while on the 5-on-3 power-play. Center Preston Mizzi blasted home his 16th goal of the season past goalie Kevin Reiter at 11:31. In the second frame, Hogs winger Bruce Watson extended the lead to 2-0 when he deflected in a Chaz Johnson shot at 19:26.

Missouri would get on the board early in the third period to cut the lead in half. Winger Mark Odut slid a shot under Hogs goalie Michel Robinson at 1:36. The Hogs responded at 3:11 when Johnson punched in a Watson rebound to make it 3-1. Missouri wouldn't go away, however, as winger Jim Duhart deflected in a marker at 15:45 cutting the lead back down to one.

The River Otters then pulled Reiter with just over a minute left in regulation, but it was Rockford who notched the marker when center Olivier Proulx knocked in the insurance goal, securing the 4-2 win. IceHogs defenseman Steve Pelletier finished the contest with two assists.

Robinson earned another win for the Hogs making 33 saves while Reiter was given loss after turning away 25 Rockford shots. The Hogs finished the night 1-for-5 on the power-play and held Missouri to 0-for-5. With the win, Rockford evened up their all-time record to 221-221-45, the first time that the Hogs all-time record sits at .500 or above since February 12, 2000 (a span of 473 games.)

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Jan. 18 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Komets meet for the second time at the MetroCentre. It's another FlyAway Wednesday with the Chicago-Rockford International Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9.
