Flint Generals News Release
FLINT, MI - The largest crowd of the season 3,961, witnessed another exciting hockey game tonight at Perani Arena and Event Center as the Generals came back or the second straight game to win 5-4 in a shootout. Danbury had a 3-0 lead just 7:50 into the hockey game. After Jason Saal came in to relieve Peter Brady in goal for the Generals the Trashers continued to put the pressure on for most of the second period. After a couple of penalties against Danbury the Generals Leo Thomas scored a power play goal with just over four minutes remaining in the second period to send the game into the final period 3-1 in favor of the Trashers.
The Generals, 1-10-1 when trailing after 2 periods this season, came out strong in the third. Mike Kinnie scored a power play goal just 1:20 into the third period. Jason Selleke tied it at 3-3 and Kinnie added his second of the game and fourth in two nights to give the Generals the lead 4-3. Danbury tied 4-4 and the teams stayed that way for the remainder of the third period. In the shootout, Matt Elich scored the game winner as the fifth shooter when he beat Jayme Platt on the backhand.
The win puts the Generals even with Motor City in fourth just one point behind the Port Huron Flags for third place. Flint has three games in hand on Port Huron. Flint will play at Motor City on Sunday.
