
Rockers Dominate Skeeters 5-0

High Point Rockers News Release
After losing the first of a three game home series, the High Point Rockers dominated the Sugar Land Skeeters in game three by a final score of 5-0.
Four different Rockers' players hit a home run against the Skeeters to score all five of their runs. Third baseman Hector Gomez got the offense going with a two-run homer in the first inning, scoring second baseman Michael Russell.
Right fielder Stephen Cardullo scored the second home run of the evening with a solo shot to center field in the third. Cardullo finished the game two-for-three in the batter's box with one RBI.
The Rockers came back and scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning with another solo shot by left fielder Quincy Lattimore. Two innings later in the sixth, first baseman Richie Shaffer hit the final homer of the evening, bringing the score to 5-0 in favor of High Point.
Starting pitcher Joe Van Meter threw 51 strikes and two strikeouts in 6 innings. Van Meter's fourth inning catch from the mound initiated the first triple play at home in High Point Rockers history.
Dusty Isaacs was called in to relieve him for the seventh inning, earning one strikeout in fourteen pitches. Paul Clemmens and Brian Clark pitched the final two innings, combining for three strikeouts in 28 pitches.
