Wednesday's match-up will be the first meeting between these two teams since last year's Eastern Conference Semi-Finals in which the Sound Tigers defeated the Maple Leafs four games straight... The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are winless in their first two games this season and are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Norfolk Admirals last Saturday... Centermen Eric Manlow (1-2=3) and Jeff Hamilton (2-1=3) lead the Sound Tigers in scoring heading into tomorrow night's game against the Maple Leafs. Hamilton spent 2001-02 with Karpat Oulu of the Finnish League scoring 33 points (18G,15A) in 39 games... Goaltender Rick DiPietro (NYI 1st choice, 1st overall on 2000 Entry draft) is winless in his first two starts of the season. DiPietro is 0-1-0-1, has a 4.93 AVG. and a .852 save percentage... The Maple Leafs will play the Sound Tigers four out of their next six games including a two game set at Mile One Stadium October 25th & 26th... The Maple Leafs will hit the road after this series for a seven game / 10 day roadtrip.

SHERWOOD PLAYER OF THE WEEK THE WEEK THAT WAS
The St. John's Maple Leafs have nominated forward Brad Leeb for the Sherwood/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 13th. Last week, Leeb accumulated 5 points (2G,3A), had six shots on net with one power play-marker and was a plus two (+2) in two games for the Maple Leafs. Leeb's weekly highlights included the Maple Leafs 5-3 loss to teh Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last Thursday in the AHL season opener. Leeb was involved in all the Maple Leafs scoring when he scored two goals and added an assist on Bob Wren's goal. On Saturday, St. John's spoiled the Albany's home opener by defeating the River Rats by a score of 7-3. In that game Leeb added to his team leading points total when he added another two assists. Brad Leeb became a Maple Leaf during the summer months after a trade with the Vancouver Canucks. This is Leeb's third season in the AHL and fourth as a professional.

- St. John's rookie forward Brad Boyes scored his first professional goal last Saturday in a 7-3 Maple Leafs victory over the Albany River Rats. Boyes was Toronto's 1st choice, 24th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
- Two former Manitoba Moose are currently leading the Maple Leafs in scoring. Josh Holden and Brad Leeb each have three goals and three assists in their first three games. Holden and Leeb are in a five way tie for second in league scoring. - Goaltender Mikael Tellqvist was recalled to the Toronto Maple Leafs to back Trevor Kidd while Ed Belfour recovers from a thumb injury. Mike Minard has joined St. John's and is backing sophomore goalie Sebastien Centomo. - The Maple Leafs currently lead the AHL with 34 minors. During the 2001-2002 season St. John's was ranked 19th out of 27 teams with 1,554 penalty minutes. - The St. John's Maple Leafs play 14 home games before the Christmas break. The team will play the remaining 26 home dates after the break, including a 10 game home stretch during March.
