
Bridgeport Sound Tigers Face Busy Week

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will play three games in four nights this week. The team will also broadcast its weekly radio show, "The Sound Tigers Report", live from Roberto's in downtown Bridgeport and hold "New Haven Appreciation Night".
Head Coach Steve Stirling and Goaltender Steve Valiquette will join Voice of the Sound Tigers Bill McLaughlin tonight on "The Sound Tigers Report". The show will be broadcast from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. on "The ZONE" FOX Sports Radio 1300 live from Roberto's on Main Street in downtown Bridgeport. Fans are invited to offer the questions and comments about the team live in person or over the phone.
The Sound Tigers will host the St. John's Maple Leafs tomorrow, Wednesday, October 16th, at 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow's game will be the first meeting between the teams since the Sound Tigers swept the Maple Leafs four games to none in last year's Eastern Conference semifinals. It will also be the first of four meetings in two weeks that will make up the season series. The Sound Tigers will visit St. John's Friday and Saturday October 25th and 26th. The Maple Leafs will return to Bridgeport on Wednesday, October 30th. The Sound Tigers were 1-1-2 versus St. John's last regular season.
The Sound Tigers will host the Hartford Wolf Pack this Friday, October 18th at 7:35 p.m. in the first of ten meetings with their in-state rivals this regular season. The Sound Tigers were 6-4 versus the Wolf Pack last year including a 4-1 home win on the final night of the regular season which clinched the Regular Season Championship.
Friday will be "New Haven Appreciation Night" at the Arena at Harbor Yard courtesy of The New Haven Register and KC 101.3. New Haven residents will receive a voucher good for a discounted ticket price of $12.50 by showing proof of city of New Haven residency at designated tables which will be set up in front of the arena, and anyone wearing a New Haven Hockey jersey (Knights, Beast of New Haven, Nighthawks, Senators, etc.) will also receive a voucher good for a discounted ticket price of $12.50. Select fans who show their New Haven hockey spirit will be chosen to participate in gamenight promotions with the chance to win cash and prizes. The Sound Tigers have also donated 100 tickets to LEAP of New Haven.
The Sound Tigers will visit the Springfield Falcons this Saturday, October 19th at 7:35 p.m. in the first of eight meetings between the teams this regular season. The Sound Tigers were 4-3-1 versus the Falcons last year including a 7-1 home win on November 18th in which they set season-high marks for goals scored and margin of victory and a 7-1 road loss on February 1st which marked their worst defeat of the season.
All Sound Tigers' games are broadcast live on "The ZONE" FOX Sports Radio 1300 and on the Internet at www.soundtigers.com. In addition, road games are broadcast on WSTC/WNLK 1400/1350.
