Albany River Rats News Release
The Albany River Rats head out on the road this week for the second and final game of the 2001-02 season series with the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday night at 7:30p.m. The Admirals (2-0-0-1, 1ST South) are coming of yesterday's 4-3 overtime loss in Albany. The club continues to get balanced goal-scoring and is led by rookie RW Igor Radulov's three tallies in three consecutive games. The top minor league affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks has picked up a point in all of their games this season and will host the Hershey Bears on Friday night before welcoming the River Rats to town. Albany shows a 2-4-1 record in the all-time regular season series after Monday's win, which includes an 0-3 record at Norfolk's Scope Arena.
Albany will then move on to the brand new Giant Center and a match-up with the remodeled Hershey Bears on Sunday night at 6:00p.m. The Bears (1-0-0-0, 3RD South) are coming off a 6-3 road victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night. C Mark Freer posted three (2-1) points and former River Rat LW Eric Bertrand added a short-handed score for the top minor league affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. Hershey will host the Rochester Americans in the first ever game at the Giant Center on Friday night at 7:00p.m. The River Rats and Bears face-off four times this season (Oct. 20TH, Jan. 31ST, Feb. 14TH & Mar. 16TH) with Albany leading the all-time season series 24-14-0-2 including an 11-7-0-2 road mark.

NOTES
· LW Joe Hulbig â The veteran winger leads the American Hockey League with four goals, three on the power play coming off an eight-goal season split between Providence & Worcester. How has his improved health contributed to the fast start?
· C Craig Darby â The Albany Academy graduate is leading the AHL with eight points in three games. A Saratoga Springs resident, is there more or less pressure to return to a place where he has had previous success and family ties to?
· D Ray Giroux â He currently tops all league defenders in points and has been logging a lot of ice time for the River Rats. How much credit does he deserve for Albany's ability to pick up at least one power play goal in each game this season?
