Rock Cats Have Two Player Transactions Today

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced two player transactions today, with each involving a left-handed Pitcher.

LHP Spencer Steedley, a 27-year-old relief specialist from Granite Quarry, NC, has been returned to New Britain's Active roster after nearly six weeks on the club's Disabled List due to a left elbow strain. The UNC-Charlotte product was selected by Minnesota in the 25th Round of the 2007 Draft. The 6'2"/190-pound hurler made 14 mound appearances for the 2011 Rock Cats before going on the shelf May 31st; at the time, he owned a 2-2/4.07 mark over 24.1 total innings of work in New Britain. Steedley has made a total of 44 appearances for the Rock Cats over portions of the past three Eastern League seasons.

LHP Michael Tarsi, the 6'8" Danbury, CT native who pitched collegiately at the University of Connecticut, has been placed on the Disabled List due to a left shoulder strain. The 24-year-old former Husky was selected by the Twins in the 12th Round of the 2007 Draft. The angular southpaw was effective out of the Rock Cats bullpen this season, posting a 3-0 W-L mark with 1 Save and a 3.60 ERA. At the time of today's action, Tarsi had tossed a total of 30 innings over 23 relief appearances in a New Britain uniform.
