DURHAM SANDWICH: The Rochester Red Wings tonight continue their 8-game roadtrip with the 2nd game of a 4-game series at Durham (Rays). The Red Wings started the trip by taking 3 of 4 at Norfolk (Orioles) and losing last night's series opener 7-4. Rochester returns to Frontier Field on Tuesday for a brief 4-game homestand against International League North Division rival Syracuse (Nationals). Then it's back on the road for a pair of 4-game series at Columbus (Indians) and Toledo (Tigers).

a The Red Wings are 5 games into a stretch of playing 16 of 20 games on the road through August 5. Rochester will, however, play 18 of its final 29 games at Frontier Field beginning August 6.

HALL PASS: Red Wings alum and FOX broadcaster Tim McCarver today is being honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, as the 2012 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in baseball broadcasting.

a McCarver joins a group of illustrious Red Wings alumni to have a place in the Hall, joining Bob Gibson, Johnny Mize, Eddie Murray, Stan Musial, Jim Palmer (rehab), Cal Ripken Jr., Red Schoendienst, and managers Frank Robinson and Earl Weaver.

THIS DATE IN BASEBALL HISTORY: In 1996, Eddie Murray is traded to the Baltimore Orioles from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for righthander Kent Mercker...Murray returns to the O's just 8 homers shy of the 500 plateau...in 1991, Red Sox outfielder Steve Lyons is put in to pitch in a 14-1 game against the Twins at Fenway Park...he works a scoreless 9th inning as the Twins complete a 4-game sweep.
