Norfolk dropped its second straight decision as Rochester outslugged the Tides 8-4 on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Harbor Park.

After a 47 minute delay prior to first pitch, Norfolk wasted no time in jumping on Rochester starter Jeff Manship. Rhyne Hughes lined a two-out, RBI single in the first, and Brandon Snyder later added a two-run double to stake the Tides to a 3-0 lead.

Rochester wasted no time in taking back the lead, however, as they sent 10 men to the plate in a five-run second inning against Norfolk starter Brandon Erbe (0-8). The Red Wings had seven hits in the frame, with the big hit a two-run triple off the bat of Brock Peterson.

Erbe, who was removed after throwing 44 pitches in the second frame, suffered his eighth loss in nine starts this season and now has a 6.80 ERA.

For the second straight contest each Rochester batter collected a hit, and the Red Wings have now accounted for 30 hits in the first two games of the four-game set.

Snyder finished with two hits to pace Norfolk's offense, while Jeff Salazar launched a solo home run in the seventh inning. Josh Bell and Paco Figueroa also added two hits apiece.

Tim Lahey (3-1) earned the win by tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The Tides and Red Wings will continue their series Monday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15. Chris Tillman (4-4, 3.31) will look to continue his recent hot streak against right-hander Deolis Guerra (0-1, 7.20).
