Durham Bulls News Release

Durham, NC - After scoring 18 runs in game one, the nightcap proved to be much more difficult as the Bulls failed to score a run and fell 1-0 to Pawtucket. The two teams split the double-dip despite the Bulls outscoring the PawSox, 18-2.

The rains ended the night early for both starting pitchers, as a one hour and 32 minute rain delay stopped play after one and a half scoreless innings. Bulls lefty Carlos Hernandez struck out four of the eight batters he faced in two innings, while Pawtucket lefty Felix Doubront struck out two of the three he faced in his only inning of work in his Triple-A debut.

The only offense came in the fifth inning, as Gustavo Molina blasted an R.J. Swindle offering over the wall in left for his first home run of the season. Swindle was tagged with the loss, allowing his first earned run of the season in 2.0 innings.

Chad Paranto came on in relief for Pawtucket and held the Bulls to one hit in four innings of work to pick up the win, while Fernando Cabrera worked the final two innings for his sixth save of the season.

The two teams continue the series tomorrow as RHP Jeremy Hellickson (6-2 2.34) takes on LHP Kris Johnson (3-2 5.03). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
