Robins Signs Contract As Jackets Send Two More To Elmira

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that they have signed right wing Bobby Robins to a standard player's contract. Robins had been in camp on a professional tryout agreement.
Robins, 25, is a second year pro and spent all of last season with the Binghamton Senators (AHL). Appearing in all 80 games last season with the Senators, Robins posted 15 points (7+8) and 110 penalty minutes.
"Bobby is a tough, physical power forward that will fit in nicely with our club and style of play," said head coach Steve Martinson.
Robins played collegiately at UMass-Lowell, skating in 127 contests in four years with 32 goals and 69 points. His 31 points led the River Hawks in scoring his senior season in 2005-06.
In other roster moves, the Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL) have re-assigned left wing Kirill Starkov and right wing Petr Pohl to Elmira (ECHL). Both had been with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).
Starkov, 20, appeared in 72 games with Red Deer of the Western Hockey League last season tallying 34 goals, 37 assists and 41 penalty minutes. A native of Yekaterinburg, Russia, Starkov was selected by Columbus in the 6th round, 189th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Pohl, 21, appeared in 1 game with Syracuse last season. He also appeared in 65 games with Dayton of the ECHL last season notching 8 goals, 17 assists and 18 penalty minutes. A native of Prostejov, Czech Republic, Pohl was selected by Columbus in the 5th round, 133rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Elmira opens its first ECHL preseason with three games this week at First Arena: Thursday, October 11th, against Reading (7:05 p.m.), Friday, October 12th, and Saturday, October 13th, versus Trenton at 7:35 p.m. both nights.
