Trenton Devils News Release

ELMIRA, NY (October 12, 2007) - Brad Mills' power play goal with 2:12 left in regulation proved to be the game-winner as the Trenton Devils came from behind to defeat the Elmira Jackals, 2-1, in front of 2,628 at the First Arena.

With 5:58 remaining in the match, the Devils were able to take advantage of a five- minute power play after a major boarding penalty was assessed to Elmira forward Chaz Johnson. Taking a pass into the offensive zone from Tony Zancanaro, Mills cut into the slot, eluded a poke check from goaltender Robert Gherson and put the puck top shelf to give the Trenton their first lead of the game.

Devils goalie Dave Caruso helped his team preserve the win, finishing with 36 saves.

Elmira opened the scoring at 13:25 of the first period when Kirill Starkov found a loose puck in the slot and swept it past the outstretched stick of Caruso.

Skating on a 5-on-3 power play early in the second period, the Devils were able to tie the score, 1-1, off of a one-time slapshot from Stephen Wood at 2:15.

The Devils' special teams went 2-for-11 on the man-advantage and a perfect 10-for-10 on the penalty kill.

The Trenton Devils will open the upcoming season against the Reading Royals at Sovereign Bank Arena on Friday, October 19 at 7:30pm. Full and partial season ticket plans for 2007-08 are available by calling (609) 599-9500.
