Cleveland Gladiators News Release

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Gladiators WR/DB ROBERT REDD has been named Ironman of the Week for his performance in Week 2 of the 2008 Arena Football League season.

Redd (5-10, 195, Bowling Green) registered seven receptions for 105 yards and three touchdowns on offense as the Gladiators (2-0) defeated the Utah Blaze (0-2) 66-63 at Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday. On defense, Redd posted three-and-a-half tackles and one fumble recovery as the Gladiators held the Blaze to seven points on two possessions with one defensive stop in the third quarter. Redd's third touchdown reception, a 34-yard pass from QB RAYMOND PHILYAW with 9:34 remaining, gave Cleveland a 17-point lead and helped seal the victory.

"Robert stepped up when the team needed him," Head Coach Mike Wilpolt said. "We had injuries in our defensive backfield and he was able to make big defensive plays, as well as his terrific performance on the offensive side of the ball."

Redd becomes the first Gladiators player to earn one of the league honors in 2008. Along with the Ironman of the Week award, each week the AFL recognizes an Offensive Player of the Week, ADT Defensive Player of the Week.
