New York Dragons News Release
The Arena Football League announced today Dragons DB Levy Brown is named the Week Two ADT Defensive Player of the Week. Brown spent the 2007 season with the af2's Florida Firecats and was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Year.
Brown (5-11, 200) led the Dragons defense in their home opener victory over Kansas City Sunday. He recorded 6.5 tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions for four yards. His second interception was made in the Dragons' end zone on Kansas City's last opportunity to score and take the game. Brown kept the Dragons score at 50-47, helping the Dragons win their first home opener since 2005.
"We're definitely proud of him. It is quite an accomplishment so early in his career," said Head Coach Weylan Harding. "I am looking for him to get better the whole season and his hard work is paying off. We thought he could do it but this is more validation that we made the right choice in bringing him in."
"I'm honored and want to thank the coaches and my team for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I owe a lot to our D-line and secondary this week," said Brown. "My main goal is to help us get to the ArenaBowl this season."
Also receiving weekly honors for Offensive Player of the Week and Ironman of the Week are New Orleans VooDoo QB Danny Wimprine and Cleveland Gladiators WR/DB Robert Redd, respectively.
