March 11, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER, Colo. - As St. Patrick's Day rolls near, several Colorado Crush players will be light around the ears...and not because of any lost bets. Crush OL Chris Watton has teamed up with several other Crush players and the St. Baldrick's Foundation to help raise funds and awareness to cure kids' cancer by shaving their heads.

Along with 2007 AFL Al Lucas Hero Award winner QB John Dutton, OL/DL Dustin "Buzz" Barno, Crusher the Mascot, and others the day is sure to be a great success. The event will be held at Fado Irish Pub in Downtown Denver on Friday, March 14th and begins bright and early at 7 a.m. Several Colorado Avalanche players will join the members of the Crush to be shorn at 8:15 a.m. and the foundation encourages all who are interested to come on out.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation started in 2000 in New York City and has, to date, risen over $34 million with head shavings in 46 states and 18 different countries. Childhood cancer kills more U.S. children than any other disease - more than AIDS, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies, combined.

St. Baldrick's makes grants to research organizations that enable doctors and scientists at over 230 institutions pursue the most promising cures and best treatments for childhood cancer.

The shavings will be just in time for the Crush's (1-0) St. Patrick's Day match-up with the Dallas Desperados at 6 p.m. MST on Monday, March, 17th at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
