SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that the club has designated defenseman Robert McEwan for assignment with the Summerside Western Capitals (MJAHL).
McEwan, 18, joins fellow Sea Dogs affiliate players Will Johnston (Forward/Defence) and Jared Kelly (Goaltender) on the Western Capitals' roster. Summerside is coached by former NHL player Gord Dwyer.
A free agent signee in 2008, McEwan has appeared in 37 total games with Saint John between this season and last. The Mississauga, ON native has registered 0G-2A-2P-35PIM in addition to a +2 rating thus far in his QMJHL career.
The Sea Dogs (8-4-1-0) will face the Moncton Wildcats (9-4-0-1) at Harbour Station later tonight (puck drop: 7pm). This evening's contest has been designated Pink in the Rink Night, with customized pink uniforms set to be worn by all members of the Port City's major junior squad as they clash with their archrivals in Game 2 of the 2009-10 Brunswick News Rivalry Cup Challenge. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the unique, game-worn jerseys via silent auction at Sea Dogs Central (Section S, arena concourse). All proceeds from this initiative will go towards
