Olympiques win over the Juniors

Montreal - The Gatineau Olympiques were victorious as goaltender Maxime Clermont shutout the Juniors and led the Olympiques over the Juniors by a score of 3-0. Tye McGinn, Vincent Bernard, and Joshua Domingues contributed the three Gatineau goals.
After dropping a tightly fought game last night in a shootout to the Quebec Remparts, the Montreal Juniors wanted redeem themselves this afternoon against the Gatineau Olympiques. The Gatineau Olympiques were also looking to bounce back from their loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs. But it was the Olympiques that got what they needed as Clermont led the way.
The Gatineau Olympiques opened up the scoring early in the first period when forward Tye McGinn scored an unassisted goal at 1:41. The Olympiques added another goal when defenseman Vincent Bernard put one past Allen at 15:14. Gatineau made this a 3-0 game going to second period when forward Joshua Domingues scored at 18:30. Shots favored the Olympiques 9-7.
That was all the scoring that Gatineau needed as the Olympiques held the Juniors scoreless for the next two period and defeated the Juniors 3-0. The Juniors could not find their offense tonight and has struggled during this four-game skid. The Juniors have now scored only three goals and are one for seventeen on the power play in those four games.
Montreal goalie Jake Allen allowed 3 goals on 9 shots and was relieved by Jean-Francois Berube, who made all 24 saves he faced during the second and third period. Gatineau goaltender Maxime Clermont stopped all 22 shots he faced to earn the shutout victory while Allen took the loss. The Gatineau Olympiques are now 10-3 while the Montreal Juniors fall to 7-6-0-1.
Up next for the Juniors will be the Moncton Wildcats at home Wednesday night, 7:35PM. The Juniors will wrap up their short two-game homestand as they will host the defending champs, the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Friday at 7:35PM.
