
Riversharks Defeat Patriots 9-4

Camden, NJ - The Camden Riversharks (14-21, 42-63) defeated the Somerset Patriots (20-15, 70-35) 9-4 Saturday evening at Campbell's Field.
In the bottom of the second inning Camden scored three times to take a 3-0 advantage. First baseman Ryan Strieby socked a RBI single and left fielder Daniel Rockett pounded a two run home run (10).
The Patriots rallied to even the score at 3-3 in the top of the third inning. Right fielder Michael Burgess drew a bases loaded walk, third baseman David Vidal fisted a RBI single and first baseman Mat Gamel recorded a RBI ground out.
Camden plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead. Designated hitter Evan Crawford lifted a RBI sacrifice fly and center fielder Michael Rockett roped a RBI single.
Three more runs came across for Camden in the bottom of the sixth inning to up its lead to 8-3. Shortstop Brandon Chaves hit a RBI sacrifice fly while right fielder Carlos Guzman and third baseman Joel Guzman each poked RBI singles.
The Patriots dwindled the deficit to 8-4 in the top of the eighth inning as shortstop Robert Andino laced a RBI sacrifice fly.
Joel Guzman padded the Camden lead in the home half of the eighth inning with a RBI single making the contest 9-4.
Daniel Herrera earned the win (5-4) tossing 5.2 innings while allowing three runs. Lucas Irvine suffered the loss (6-6) lasting 5.2 innings while surrendering a season-high eight runs.
