Lancaster Stormers News Release

Anderson Feliz got Friday night's crowd of 8,247, the fifth largest in Clipper Magazine Stadium history, fired up with a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Unfortunately, it was the throng's only baseball moment to celebrate as the Sugar Land Skeeters held on for a 5-3 win over the Lancaster Barnstormers.

The Barnstormers' lead over the York Revolution dropped to three games as York defeated Bridgeport for the second consecutive evening.

Sean Gallagher (2-9) checked Lancaster on two hits, both singles, over the first six innings while walking and striking out four apiece. Lancaster managed to move only one runner as far as second base during Gallagher's stint in the game.

The rarely-supported right-hander was embroiled in another scoreless tie until the top of the fifth when Sugar Land broke loose for four two-out runs. Nate Reed (3-7) walked both Jeff Dominguez and Travis Scott to bring Delwyn Young to the plate. The switch hitting DH scalded a ground ball to the right of second baseman Luke Hughes, who could not make the backhanded pickup as Dominguez scored. Chris Wallace followed with a three-run homer onto the picnic deck in right for a 4-0 lead.

Doubles by Denny Almonte and Scott in the seventh inning stretched the Skeeters' lead to 5-0.

Ramon Delgado issued a one-out walk to Yusuke Kajimoto in the seventh. Two batters later, Zach Collier ripped a double into the right field corner. Feliz cranked his three-run blast to the walkway in right center to cut the lead to two.

It was as close as the Barnstormers would get. Lance Zawadzki singled, and Hughes walked in the eighth, but Dan Runzler struck out Kajimoto to end the threat. In the ninth, Tim Gustafson allowed Juan Apodaca to reach base on a third strike wild pitch, but Feliz rapped into a 6-4-3 double play to end the night.

Chad Beck (2-1) takes the mound for the Barnstormers on Saturday evening against lefty Roy Merritt (5-4). Fireworks will again follow the game. Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:45.
